Spelta – Produtos Petrolíferos, S.A. is a subsidiary of Rubis Energia Portugal SA.
It was created in November 1997 and started its activity the following month, in December 1997, taking over control of the business of Willian Hinton & Sons in the area of packaged and piped gas commercialization of the Shell Gas brand in Madeira Island. In February 1999, it also took over the business of União Comercial in the same areas of activity, extending its activity to Porto Santo Island, becoming the exclusive concessionaire of the brand for the Autonomous Region of Madeira in the areas of marketing and distribution of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) - Packaged Gas (bottles) and Piped Gas.
In April 2005 the entire national Shell Gás (LPG), SA business was acquired by the Repsol Group, including Spelta - Produtos Petrolíferos, Unipessoal, Lda. through Repsol Gás Portugal, S.A.. On December 3rd, 2018 Rubis Energia Portugal, S.A. concluded the acquisition through transfer of LPG distribution assets to Repsol, in the Autonomous Region of Madeira (and Azores), namely in the packaging, bulk and piped segments including the Spelta - Produtos Petrolíferos, S.A. company, which is now part of the Rubis Group, that has been operating in the energy sector for over 25 years, with a presence in several countries in Europe, Africa and the Caribbean region.
The company operates in the Autonomous Region of Madeira, having its offices / main warehouse and bottle park in Facilities located at Rua Achada Diogo Dias, 2, Nogueira, Camacha, Madeira Island.

It has about 20 employees and has in its technical staff highly qualified professionals in the field of gas installations, with a technical office and Design Engineers qualified to carry out any type of gas project, as well as Gas Technicians, Gas Network Installers, Gas Network Welders and Gas Appliance Mechanics,being registered as "Network and Gas Station Installer Entity" in the Regional Directorate of Trade, Industry and Energy n. 008I / 01 and "Gas Devices Assembler Entity" with n. 008M / 07, also having “Building Permit” in the Institute of Construction and Real Estate (InCI) in Category 1 "Buildings and Heritage" in Subcategory 9, Class 2, and in Category 4 "Electrical and Mechanical Installations" in Subcategory 12, Class 2 with N. 60125.
It should also be noted that Spelta - Produtos Petrolíferos, Unipessoal, Lda. is accredited as a "Channel and Branch Exploiter Entity of Gas Pipelines" in the Regional Directorate of Commerce, Industry and Energy with N. 1 E / 04 (definitive).
In December 2008, Spelta obtained the certification of its Quality Management System according to the standard NP EN ISO 9001: 2008, with the number ER-1631/2009 under the "Marketing and distribution of liquefied petroleum gases (LPG)" in the Autonomous Region of Madeira".
