Spelta – Produtos Petrolíferos, S.A. is a subsidiary of
Rubis Energia Portugal SA.
It was created in November 1997 and started its activity the following month, in December 1997, taking over control of the business of Willian Hinton & Sons in the area of packaged and piped gas commercialization of the Shell Gas brand in
Madeira Island. In February 1999, it also took over the business of União Comercial in the same areas of activity, extending its activity to Porto Santo Island, becoming the exclusive concessionaire of the brand for the Autonomous Region of Madeira in the areas of marketing and distribution of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) - Packaged Gas (bottles) and Piped Gas.
In April 2005 the entire national Shell Gás (LPG), SA business was acquired by the Repsol Group, including Spelta - Produtos Petrolíferos, Unipessoal, Lda. through Repsol Gás Portugal, S.A.. On December 3rd, 2018 Rubis Energia Portugal, S.A. concluded the acquisition through transfer of LPG distribution assets to Repsol, in the Autonomous Region of Madeira (and Azores), namely in the packaging, bulk and piped segments including the Spelta - Produtos Petrolíferos, S.A. company, which is now part of the Rubis Group, that has been operating in the energy sector for over 25 years, with a presence in several countries in Europe, Africa and the Caribbean region.
The company operates in the
Autonomous Region of Madeira, having its offices / main warehouse and bottle park in Facilities located at Rua Achada Diogo Dias, 2, Nogueira, Camacha, Madeira Island.
